Exploring key moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turning them on their head, taking audiences into uncharted territory. Chadwick Boseman’s final Marvel project before his death. Watcher: [Opening narration for each episode] Time. Space. Reality. It’s more than a linear path. It’s a prism of infinite possibilities, where a single choice can branch into infinite realities and create alternate worlds from the ones you know. I am the Watcher. I am your guide through these vast new realities. Follow me and ponder the question… “What if?” When the Marvel logo appears, it transitions into an animated form in the show’s art style. Adapted from Marvel Studios: Legends: Guardians of the Multiverse (2023). A very straightforward episode about rushing things to put the pieces straight into the puzzle. And my expression was also pretty straight while watching this episode because there was no suspense or even logical storytelling. I get that it’s an animated show aimed at kids maybe? But only kids who are familiar with all of the MCU so far might enjoy it. We’ll see how the rest of the episodes develop, but I’m really not that excited about them after this one. Edit: Episode 2 gave a real sense of what the MCU is all about, it was creative and thoughtful with great WHAT IF moments. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing T’challa back on screen. Episode 3, however, broke me and made me edit this review. It was so exciting and suspenseful to watch that I could have rewatched the entire movie from this episode. It re-examined the characters we know to a level that leaves you wanting more. I hope I get a 10 star edit by the end of the season. Edit II: Here’s another one of my “weird” 39 stars Still, a thought-provoking episode that was by far the best of the bunch in terms of writing, voice acting, animation, and story. Special mention to Benedict Cumberbatch for nailing the boss. Kudos to Marvel for doing this. By episode five, however, the episode was certainly entertaining, humorous, and engaging with quality animation, but again showed too much at the same time because it didn’t give viewers enough time to absorb things. Still, a 9/10 overall for the series, at least until the next two episodes. They’ll have to beat episode 4 to get a 10 from me.
